History
JGL is a flexible, medium-sized pharmaceutical company, producing primarily generics, developed from a central laboratory for manufacturing and controlling magistral and galenic preparations for the "JADRAN" Rijeka pharmacy. It was founded in 1991 as the first entirely private pharmaceutical joint stock company in Croatia. The company headquarters is in Rijeka.
The transformation from a local laboratory into a powerful and
fast-growing pharmaceutical company occurred exclusively through
organic growth - development of new products and conquering new
markets.
To stimulate the achiever attitude, our internal conversations
always go back to the company beginnings and the story of a pastry
mixer, which started the existing production plant, fully compliant
with international standards of good manufacturing and laboratory
practice in drug production and control (GMP/GLP - Good Manufacture
Practice/Good Laboratory Practice).
The beginning of JGL market operation was characterized by an
entrepreneurial spirit of its founders, who used the niche strategy
with several pharmacologically essential drugs, produced on a small
scale (potassium chloride tablets, Timalen eye drops, Hepan and
Fluacet gels, Atyrazol tablets), recognising the market potential
for these products. Their quick and flexible entry into the market
resulted in a fast company growth.
Year 1991 marked the first registered drug, Carbo Medicinalis
(activated medicinal charcoal) which, being a classical adsorbent
and an antidote is still an obligatory product in the treatment of
poisoning and diarrhoea.
Systematic investments into employee knowledge and new product
development, in addition to a close relationship with our customers
and investments into modern technology for manufacturing and
controlling drugs have resulted in JGL becoming the third
pharmaceutical company in Croatia, developed from the initial small
enterprise over a relatively short period of time.
