International presence

The beginning of JGL market operation was characterized by an entrepreneurial spirit of its founders, who used the niche market strategy with several pharmacologically essential drugs, produced on a small scale, recognising the market potential for these products. Their quick and flexible entry into the market resulted in a fast company growth.

We signed the first Representation and Distribution Agreement with the company Salus d.d. Ljubljana for the market of the Republic of Slovenia back in 1992. During the 1990s we continued expanding into neighbouring markets - to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo. In the early 21th century, we first entered the Russian market and then the remaining CIS markets (Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Belarus and Moldavia). Today in 25 Russian cities work 118 employees, in 19 cities of Ukraine 47, in 11 cities of Kazakhstan 31 employees. Total revenue of the CIS in 2011. was more than 40 million.

JGL is exporting, or is preparing to export, its products to 30 markets. The export share in the overall company revenue for the year 2011 amounted to 69%. Since the globalization of our operation is a strategic guideline in all segments of our pharmaceutical activities, we have expanded our focus from Central and Eastern Europe to other global markets. The company has thus recently concluded agreements for its strategic brands of Aqua Maris, Meralys and Adrience with Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Guatemala, Turkey, Kuwait and Yemen. In the USA, in the heart of New York,  in Manhattan, we have registered a company called JGL North America LLC. The objective and purpose of our JGL New York subsidiary is to quickly enter this specific, large and particularly appealing market, in accordance with the JGL strategy of going global.

Thanks to the existing agreements and those in preparation, JGL will intensify its focus on expansion to the large, fast-growing markets in four key global regions - the Middle East, Western Europe, the USA and South America. Finally, our forecasts indicate that JGL could be present on more than 50 markets in four years.
