Marshmallow syrup

Altheae sirupus

It contains the extract of Althaea officinalis L., common name marshmallow.

Due to the mucilage content this syrup lines the mucosa of the throat thus reducing its desiccation and cough irritation. In productive cough it softens the viscous content and alleviates expectoration. It is especially suitable for small children.

Marshmallow extract is added to sugar syrup. It should be mentioned that sugar also stimulates mucus secretion thus helping to soothe the irritated mucous membrane. Our grandmothers knew it well when they fried sugar to soothe cough.

In order to soothe cough children take 1 teaspoon and adults 1 tablespoon of syrup few times a day

Plantain syrup

It contains the extract of Plantago lanceolata L. , common names: plantain or buckhorn plantain. In ancient times freshly squeezed juice of this plant was used to heal the wounds. In folk medicine crushed leaves are used in the treatment of smaller wounds and cuts.

Due to the tannin content Plantain Syrup acts as an astringent and due to mucilage it alleviates inflammations. Natural antibiotic action is associated with the content of iridoid glycoside aucubin. Plantain Syrup improves mucus secretion and facilitates expectoration. The basis of this preparation is sugar syrup (see marshmallow syrup).

Children take 1-2 teaspoons of syrup and adults 1 tablespoon of syrup few times a day.

The syrup contains dry ivy leaf extract (Hedera folium).

Ivy leaf syrup also contains saponins that help dilute mucus in the respiratory tract and make it less viscous. Such mucus can be coughed up more easily, thus preventing its accumulation in the respiratory tract. Ivy extract additionally helps the respiratory tract muscles to relax by gently reducing the urge to cough. This syrup is a suitable help against both dry and productive cough.

The syrup must be administered according to age:

adults and children older than 12 years of age should take 1 tablespoon of syrup 3 times a day, children aged 6 to 12 should take 2 teaspoons of syrup 3 times a day, and children aged 1-5 should take 1 teaspoon of syrup 3 times a day.

The product does not contain sucrose, which makes it suitable for people who are not allowed to or do not want to take sugar.
