The first regional Case Study Competition 2013 was closed with a special ceremony at the Cinestar Zagreb movie theatre. At the beginning of March, the student association eSTUDENT organised another competition in solving real and challenging business cases by connecting companies from different industry branches and the best students from all colleges. Students solve business cases in cooperation with entrepreneurs, which gives them an opportunity to develop analytical, presentation and communication skills, as well as to recognise the importance of team work and the responsibility that comes with making decisions. The main goal of the competition is to connect ambitious and proactive students with prestigious companies in Croatia.
Over 2,700 students from 70 colleges and institutions of higher education from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovenia, as well as 15 leading companies in the Republic of Croatia, including our company, took part in this year’s CSC. Based on the topic “Strengthening corporate reputation in key participants with the aim of sustainable development”, the students were given the assignment to assess the current corporate reputation and competitive position of JGL and to think of a plan for developing its reputation with clear goals, an activation plan and success measures with regard to key participants on our key markets in the context of sustainable development.
There was no lack of creative ideas and innovative approaches in ten analysed cases, but only five teams earned the right to enter the final stage of the competition and present their detailed solutions to the JGL committee. Furthermore, as only three winners get to be on top – only three student teams managed to amaze us with their thought process, effort and dedication, which are the true predispositions for achieving valuable and applicable results worthy of investment.
At the special closing ceremony, we awarded the best of the best with prizes in the amount of HRK 2,000, 4,000 and 10,000, along with other companies that recognised the potential of CSC this year and gave an opportunity to young promising students. Besides JGL, this also included the representatives of Adacta, Holcim, I.D., Riva Tours, Infobip, Iskon, Karlovačka pivovara, L’Oreal, Nestle, PBZ, Pliva, Splitska banka, T-Hrvatski telekom, Zagrebačka banka and INA.
